Kelly Koenig


Kelly Koenig is the Associate Superintendent for the Student Achievement and Educator Excellence Division at the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). Kelly began her career at ADE more than 15 years ago and has served in multiple leadership roles in the agency. In her current role, she oversees multiple state and federal programs, some of which include Title I, II, IV, Assessment, Accountability, Teacher Certification and School Improvement. Her role provides her the fortunate opportunity to support schools as they navigate these programs to provide the best educational opportunities for Arizona’s students. Kelly’s more than 25-year professional career began in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and English as a Second Language. Her teaching experiences include multiple years of teaching first-third grade EL students as well as holding specialist positions in Reading and Six Trait Writing. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University (NAU) and more than 30 hours of master’s level course work in Educational Leadership from NAU which earned her a Principal and Superintendent certification. Kelly was named Teacher of the Year by Washington Mutual in 2000.
