Michael Winters


Dr. Mike Winters has been an educator since 1999 and a school administrator since 2006. He began his educational career as a high school Biology and Chemistry teacher and then moved to middle school Science. Dr. Winters has been an assistant principal and principal, and he currently serves as the Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction in the Madison Elementary School District. He was named a Rodel Exemplary Principal in 2011, continues to mentor aspiring administrators, and works with the iLeadAZ Principal Preparation program through ASU. Dr. Winters is a certified Kagan Cooperative Learning trainer, has served as a team leader for many Solutions Teams through the ADE, has been a member of many AdvancED school accreditation teams, and served on the ADE's Recruitment and Retention Task Force. He earned a Bachelors in Secondary Education degree from the University of Missouri, a Masters in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University, and a doctoral degree in K-12 Leadership from Grand Canyon University. A few of his areas of expertise lie in instructional leadership, effective instruction, using data to drive instruction, and professional development.
